Karen L. Hewitt

Over the past 20 years, Karen Hewitt has:

• Established and operated Hewitt & Cowden Investigations, a female-owned investigative firm

• Been the first criminal investigator in an East Texas pilot program to handle Child and Sexual Abuse cases

• Been elected President and Chairman of the Board of the Texas Association of Licensed Investigators

• Worked to establish the ‘Texas Certified Investigator’ program sponsored by the Texas Association of Licensed Investigators, and endorsed by the licensing agency for Texas Private Investigators

• Been the first Texas licensed Private Investigator to be successfully complete and earn the designation of ‘Texas Certified Investigator’

Ms. Hewitt holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from university of north Texas, where she also serves on the Advisory Board for School of Community service for her alma mater. She is also a graduate of East Texas Police Academy with an Intermediate Peace Officer certification.

Ms. Hewitt began her investigative career as a criminal investigator with a Texas State District Attorney’s office, service as Child Abuse and Sexual Abuse Officer for all law enforcement agencies within the county. As a public service, Hewitt also made it her duty to educate the public, and children in particular, to recognize and report suspected child abuse and sexual abuse.

She served with a team of investigators involved in the initial investigations of the Texas Savings & Loan scandal in the late 1980’s, sorting out the myriad corporate schemes designed to hide assets. Hewitt and her firm conducted hundreds of asset investigations for the Resolution Trust Corporation to recover monies owed.

Established in 1992, Ms. Hewitt is the owner of Hewitt & Cowden Investigations, located in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Equipped with a highly-skilled investigative staff, and a team of professional protection officers, Hewitt & Cowden Investigations was involved during most of 2002 in a very sensitive case involving a violent international animal-rights terrorist organization.
