The Roundtable Reports

Princeton Club Librarians Collaborate on Project to Benefit Afghanistan

"Some of the most notable members of the Roundtable came together to work on significant collaborative projects."

The Angel of Afghanistan, Dr. Joyce Braak, and Princeton Club Librarians Betty Dornheim, Doris Humphrey, and the retired Connie Clark put their heads together to solve a problem created when the Taliban destroyed the Afghanistan university libraries, leaving them bereft of books. Dr. Braak, The Head of Surgery in Kabul Afghanistan during the Soviet occupation and a fixture at the United Nations expressed the need for books to restore these libraries for Afghan students.

Doris, Betty, and Connie offered to help coordinate efforts to achieve this goal through their contacts. This collaboration is the result of the first New Millennium Roundtable meeting. It's wonderful that they were able to seize the moment to formulate a plan to help Dr. Braak collect and ship books to these libraries in Afghanistan . This project will be carried out in partnership with Afghan women leaders and their non-profit organizations and the Comen International Detective Agency worldwide organization.
